INTERNATIONAL DUAL DIPLOMA PROGRAM
As Silicon Valley High School (SVHS) is an asynchronous online school, there is an opportunity to offer high school education and grant US high school diplomas to students outside the United States. SVHS is a private, accredited school licensed to grant high school diplomas by the Nevada Department of Education. As SVHS is entirely online, and courses are video-based, self-paced and teacher-supported, students can be located anywhere they have an Internet connection. This means SVHS is able to award a US high school diploma to students anywhere in the world. As you can see from the Graduation Requirements, students must earn 230 credits and complete certain mandatory courses before SVHS is able to grant a US high school diploma.
Under this International Dual Diploma Program, SVHS collaborates with select accredited schools outside the US (Partner Schools) under an arrangement where the student is able to earn a US high school diploma in conjunction with the Partner School’s own diploma program. SVHS can recognize credits from the Partner School and vice versa—the Partner School can recognize credits earned by the student at SVHS so the student simultaneously qualifies for high school diplomas in both countries.
The arrangement works as follows:
- SVHS and the Partner School evaluate each other’s courses and academic standards to determine that the courses taken at each school meet the required standards and qualify to be recognized on each school’s transcript.
- SVHS and the Partner School agree to enter into a collaboration agreement.
- The Partner School identifies students who are a match for this Dual Diploma Program.
- The Partner School provides a local coordinator, counseling and local support staff for the Dual Diploma Program students.
- The students embark on an educational program where they take certain SVHS courses online as well as the courses they take at the Partner School.
- The students are supported by the teachers and counselors at the Partner School, as well as by the teachers, counselors and support staff at SVHS.
- In its Student Information System, SVHS keeps track of the progress of students as they take SVHS courses, and the Partner School likewise tracks the credits earned by students in their local country.
- When the student and Partner School determines the student has sufficient credits to earn a diploma from SVHS, the Partner School petitions SVHS for graduation, providing evidence that the student has completed the required courses. SVHS verifies that the student meets all the graduation requirements before awarding the diploma.
Silicon Valley High School
Silicon Valley High School Inc. is incorporated as a Delaware corporation and qualified to operate from its headquarters in the state of Nevada. The school’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) number is A1900717 and is licensed by the Nevada Department of Education. However, the Missouri Branch specializes in working with international students under this dual diploma program.
Rigorous Standards
The educational standards set by SVHS and the Partner School are designed to prepare students for admittance into reputable colleges in the US and other countries. The standards are demanding, and this program is only for students who are looking for a high-quality education.
English Language Considerations
SVHS courses are all conducted in English and as you will see below, we require students to take all their English courses with SVHS, so graduates will have a very high level of English competency. The level of English required for entry into this Dual Diploma Program mirrors that of the University of California, which currently sets the minimum English requirements for freshmen at a TOEFL score of 80 using the Internet-based test (iBT). SVHS English Language courses meet and exceed the standards required by Common Core and other state standards in the US, and they assume the student already has a high level of competency in English.
Courses Taken Online with SVHS
Students take the following courses with SVHS:
- English 9 Part 1.
- English 9 Part 2.
- English 10 Part 1.
- English 10 Part 2.

Courses Taken in the Partner School
In order to qualify for the SVHS high school diploma, students must successfully complete the following courses, which can be taken in the Partner School:
- 3 years of Math, including at least 1 Algebra 1 & Geometry (or Integrated Math 1 & 2).
- 3 years of Science, including a life science and a physical science (Note: A fourth year of math in Precalculus or higher may be taken in lieu of the 3rd year of science).
- 1 semester of Health.
- 2 years of PE.
- 1 year of either: SVHS Photography Part 1 and Part 2, or another Visual Performing Arts, a Language Other Than English, or Career Technical Education, or Humanities.
- Additional Electives.
Program Timeline
The timeline is flexible. As SVHS courses are self-paced and teacher-supported, motivated, talented students can accelerate through the courses through summer and any time of year, so they are not restricted to studying in a rigid semester timescale.
SVHS fees, per student, are currently set as follows:
- Registration Fee—$500. This includes verifying the student meets the minimum English language standards.
- Administration Fee—$400 per semester, for each semester in which the student is taking an SVHS course.
- Course Fee—$125 for each single-semester course.
- Graduation Fee–$1,000. This includes verifying the student meets the Graduation Requirements and issuing the diploma.
Fees
Note: SVHS has a policy to offer the most affordable quality education in the market but retains the right to adjust its fees over time.
By way of illustration, the fees for a student following the standard program progression will be $500 for the registration fee, $125 for each of the 15 SVHS courses ($2,125) plus 8 semesters at $400 each ($3,200), the graduation fee of $1,000, which translates to $6,825 for the full 4-year education program. Of course, the Partner School charges its own fees in addition to these SVHS fees.
Fees are paid to SVHS by the Partner School under a licensing arrangement where the Partner School buys credits that are subsequently used to pay for SVHS student registration fees, SVHS course enrollment fees and SVHS graduation fees.
