Online homeschool courses
You Guide the Learning. Our Teachers Grade the Work.
No parent can be an expert in chemistry, Spanish, and precalculus all at once. SVHS courses cover the subjects you'd rather not teach, while you stay the decision-maker for your homeschool.
Credentialed teachers grade every assignment
Your teen gets real feedback from a subject expert, not just automated scoring. Teachers typically grade work within two to three working days, and students can send them questions as they go.
Self-paced, with no semester dates
Start the day you enroll. Finish a course in as little as 30 days or take up to 12 months. Your teen can move quickly through strong subjects and slow down where they need more time.
Video-based and available around the clock
Lessons are on video, so students can pause, rewind, and replay until a concept clicks. Courses are open 24/7, so school fits around sports, work, travel, and family life.
An official transcript for every course
SVHS issues an official transcript for each completed course. Add it to your homeschool transcript so colleges see credit from an accredited school.
Optional one-to-one tutoring
Book a 30-minute online session with a credentialed teacher for $60 whenever your teen wants extra help in a subject. See tutoring.
Flexible for students with IEPs and 504 plans
Replayable videos, no deadlines, and a self-paced structure give students the time they need to master each unit.

How SVHS Credit Fits Your Homeschool
When you run your own homeschool and your teen takes SVHS courses, you keep your homeschool. SVHS is the school of record for those courses only.
SVHS issues an official transcript for each completed course. You merge it onto your homeschool transcript, and your homeschool awards its own diploma when your state's requirements are met.
If you would rather SVHS award the high school diploma, that comes through the SVHS Academy.
Teaching a middle schooler?
SVHS Lessons cover grades 6–8, so younger learners can start with free lessons today. SVHS courses are high school courses, and most high schools do not accept credit earned while a student is enrolled in middle school. Enroll in courses once your student has left middle school.
Homeschool rules vary by state. Check your state's requirements before you plan your teen's high school years. Our state guides are a good place to start.
Learning pods & microschools
One Lesson for the Whole Pod. One Transcript for Each Student.
Pod and microschool leaders can teach an SVHS Lesson to the whole group in person, using its activities and quiz. Students who need credit enroll individually in that subject's course and each receive their own official transcript.
A microschool that wants to offer a full accredited diploma pathway under its own brand can ask about the SVHS Certified Learning Center program.
Group teaching
Ready-to-teach lesson plans, activities, and quizzes for one standard at a time. Free.
Individual credit
Each student enrolls in the course they need, works at their own pace, and earns their own transcript.
Homeschool laws
Homeschooling Laws by State
Every state sets its own homeschool rules. Pick your state for a guide to its homeschool laws and requirements.
Planning for college
Homeschool Freedom. An Official Transcript When You Need One.
Colleges want to see what your teen studied and how they performed. Every SVHS course your teen completes appears on an official transcript from an accredited school, with grades and credits, ready to sit alongside your own homeschool records.
SVHS students, including many who took individual courses alongside homeschool or another school, have gone on to study at Ivy League schools and hundreds of institutions worldwide.
"Silicon Valley High School has been the perfect online resource for my home-schooled high school student. The SVHS.co online courses are easily accessible and easy to understand. FAQ
Homeschool Curriculum Questions
Can SVHS be my teen's whole high school homeschool curriculum?
Yes. SVHS offers more than 60 semester courses across English, math, science, social studies, world languages, the arts, and electives. Some families build their whole high school program from SVHS courses; others take only the subjects they'd rather not teach themselves. Either way, you choose the courses and keep running your homeschool.
Does SVHS award a diploma to homeschooled students?
Not for individual courses. When your teen takes SVHS courses, SVHS issues an official transcript for each one, you add it to your homeschool transcript, and your homeschool awards its own diploma when your state's requirements are met. If you want SVHS to award the diploma, that comes through the SVHS Academy.
Will my state accept SVHS courses for homeschool?
Homeschool rules vary by state, so check your state's requirements. Our Homeschooling by State pages are a good place to start. Every SVHS course your teen completes comes with an official transcript from an accredited school, which you can add to your homeschool records.
Are SVHS Lessons really free? Do they count for credit?
Yes, our lessons are free: no account, no ads, no trial. Use them as often as you like for your family or your pod. Lessons help you teach a standard but don't earn credit. Credit comes from SVHS courses, which credentialed SVHS teachers grade and which appear on an official SVHS transcript.
How much does it cost, and how long does a course take?
Each semester course is $125. A full-year course has two parts, each $125. Courses are self-paced: your teen can finish in as little as 30 days or take up to 12 months. Optional tutoring is $60 per 30-minute session.
When can we start?
Any day of the year. There are no semester start dates or cohorts. Your teen can begin as soon as you enroll. See how to enroll.
Can my middle schooler take SVHS courses?
SVHS courses are high school courses, and most high schools do not accept credit earned while a student is enrolled in middle school. Middle schoolers can use free SVHS Lessons, which cover grades 6–8, and move into courses once they have left middle school.
Can I pay with ESA or education savings account funds?
Yes, in several states. SVHS is an approved provider in these programs:
- Arizona Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA)
- New Hampshire Education Freedom Account (EFA)
- Utah Fits All Scholarship
- West Virginia Hope Scholarship
- Wyoming Education Savings Account
If your state's program isn't listed, contact us and we'll tell you whether SVHS is an approved provider where you live.
Can our learning pod or microschool use SVHS?
Yes. Lead group sessions with free SVHS Lessons, and enroll students individually in courses when they need credit. Each student gets their own official transcript. If your microschool wants to offer a full accredited diploma pathway, ask about the Certified Learning Center program.
