# INTEGRATED MATH 2, PART 1

## Price: $95 | Credits: 5 | Dept: Math | Course ID# 232-1

This course is the first part of Integrated Math 2 and includes recognizing and developing patterns using tables, graphs and equations. Mathematical modeling is stressed as a methodology for approaching the solution to problems. Integrated Math contains standards from all of the six conceptual categories – number and quantity, algebra, functions, modeling, geometry, and statistics and probability. Integrated Math 2 is approved by the University of California A-G as mathematics (category C).

Upon completion of this course, the student is awarded 5 credits. Each credit corresponds to 15 hours of study. Of course, some students work more quickly than others, and some can devote more hours to study, so some students are able to complete the course in an accelerated rate.

## LEARNING OBJECTIVES

In this module, students gain a comprehension of the following:

- Absolute value functions where all the output values are positive.
- Variation functions which describe either a direct proportional relationship between variables or a inverse relationship that as one increases the other decreases by a constant proportion.
- Inverse functions.
- Positive, negative and rational exponents; and exponential functions.
- Addition and subtraction of polynomials.
- Identifying special polynomials.
- Factoring simple and complex quadratic equations.
- Factoring special quadratics, as well as solving quadratic equations.
- Graphing the parent function and graphing a quadratic in different forms.
- Vertical and Horizontal shifts in quadratics, finding the vertex of a quadratic and finding the focus.
- Comparing linear, quadratic and exponential functions.
- Simplification and operations with radicals.
- Solving a quadratic using roots and solving a quadratic by completing the square.
- Developing and using the quadratic formula.
- Understanding complex numbers.
- Solving equations with complex solutions.
- Geometric relationships of triangles.
- Perpendicular bisectors and circumcenter, angle bisectors and incenter.
- Medians and altitudes; and midsegment theorem.
